HEAD START PROGRAM

The Vernon Parish School Board, in conjunction with the federal government, operates the Head Start Program for those disadvantaged preschool children living in Vernon Parish needing a wide range of individualized services in the area of early childhood education.  The program provides services to not only the children enrolled in the program, but their families as well.

Supervision of the Vernon Parish Head Start Program is jointly delegated to the Vernon Parish School Board and the Head Start Policy Council.  All Head Start operations and programs shall be conducted in accordance with policies of the School Board and federal regulations enumerated in the Head Start Program Performance Standards and Other Regulations, which defines the roles of the supervising agencies and the appropriate services Head Start Programs are to provide to the children and families they serve.
