DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE
POLICY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM
It is the purpose of the Vernon Parish School Board to provide a drug-free workplace throughout this school system.
No employee of the Vernon Parish School Board shall manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance while under said employment. Any person convicted of such activities shall be subject to action in accordance with adopted policy of the Vernon Parish School System.
ALL EMPLOYEES SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING:

A copy of a signed statement from each employee stating that he or she has read and understands this policy. A copy shall be placed in each employee's personnel file.

2. |
Information concerning the danger of substance abuse, especially in the workplace.

3. |
A list of available sources of drug counseling and rehabilitation agencies. |
Any employee convicted of violating criminal drug statutes shall notify the School Board in writing of such conviction no later than five (5) days after conviction. Failure to do so shall result in disciplinary action in accordance with adopted policy. Within thirty (30) days after receiving such notice, the Vernon Parish School Board shall take action in accordance with adopted policy.
Because drugs cloud judgment and alter perception, more and more accidents are linked to drug use in the work-place. The price we pay for substance abuse in our society is tremendous. We pay in health and psychological problems, in moral decay, crime and violence, in disrupted families and schools, in rising medical costs, and in lowered productivity and wasted potential.
