THE VERNON PARISH SCHOOL BOARD CONVENED ON APRIL 12, 2016 IN REGULAR SESSION AT 10:00 A.M., 201 BELVIEW ROAD, LEESVILLE, LOUISIANA. PRESIDENT DETZ CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ON ROLL CALL THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS WERE PRESENT:

There was also present Mr. James Williams, Secretary of the Board.
The meeting was opened in prayer by Albert Clifton.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Vernon Travis.
Mr. Detz expressed his appreciation to all of the schools and volunteers who so graciously helped out during the flood at Evans.
On motion of John Blankenbaker, seconded by Vernon Travis, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the April 7, 2016 regular meeting and dispense with the reading of the minutes.

On motion of Randi Gleason, seconded by Doug Brandon, the Board approved the District Strategic Plan for Advanced Ed.
On motion of Doug Brandon, seconded by Angie Davis, the Board approved the following Leave Without Pay Requests:

On motion of Angie Davis, seconded by Randy Martin, the Board accepted the following retirements:

On motion of Vernon Travis, seconded by John Blankenbaker, the Board voted to approve budget amendments related to personnel changes.
On motion of Vernon Travis, seconded by Doug Brandon, the Board voted to authorize the president and secretary to pay the claims.
Superintendent Williams noted that the next Board meeting would be May 5, 2016 and the Finance, Curriculum and Transportation Committees would also meet.
Superintendent Williams also stated that the Parish Academic Banquet would be on May 5th at East Leesville Baptist Church. Superintendent Williams also noted that Parkway Elementary is on schedule and moving will be in June with Open House in July.
On motion of John Blankenbaker, seconded by the Board, the Board adopted the following memorial resolution:
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the members of the Vernon Parish School Board take this means to express their sympathy to the family of William “Glenn” Johnson who recently passed away; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a retired bus driver at Rosepine and was the husband of Brenda Johnson, bus aide at Rosepine; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a long time resident of Vernon Parish and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends; now
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Vernon Parish School Board requests a copy of this memorial resolution be sent to his family at this time of sadness.
There being no further business, and on motion of David Detz, seconded by the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
