THE VERNON PARISH SCHOOL BOARD CONVENED IN REGULAR SESSION AT 10:00 A.M., 201 BELVIEW ROAD, LEESVILLE, LOUISIANA. PRESIDENT GLEASON CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ON ROLL CALL THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS WERE PRESENT:

There was also present Mr. Jackie D. Self, Secretary of the Board.
The meeting was opened in prayer by Jerry L. Jeane.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jerry L. Jeane.
On motion of , seconded by , the Board voted to approve the minutes of the November 7, 2013 regular meeting and dispense with the reading of the minutes.
On motion of Doug Brandon, seconded by Steve Woods, the Board voted to authorize the Finance Department to use the same payment procedure for all payroll checks.
On motion of Gerald Cooley, seconded by Michael Perkins, the Board voted to approve a water line easement for the City of Leesville at Vernon Middle School.
On motion of Doug Brandon, seconded by Steve Woods, the Board voted to authorize an additional special education paraprofessional position for student need.
On motion of John Blankenbaker, seconded by Jerry Jeane, the Board accepted the following employee retirements:
Hamrick, Shirley/custodian/Hornbeck
McRae, Morris/teacher/LHS
Busby, Jeannie, bus driver/Hicks
On motion of Gerald Cooley, seconded by Randy Martin, the Board voted to approve budget amendments related to personnel changes.
On motion of Vernon Travis, seconded by Randy Martin, the Board voted to authorize the president and secretary to pay the claims.
In other business, Superintendent Self reminded Board Members of the In-Service Training immediately following the Board meeting.
On motion of Randy Martin, seconded by the Board, the Board adopted the following memorial resolution:
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, the members of the Vernon Parish School Board wish to express their sympathy to the family of Katherine Scott who recently passed away; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott was the wife of A. L. “Buddy” Scott, retired bus driver from Pickering; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Scott was a longtime resident of Pickering and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends; now
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Vernon Parish School Board requests a copy of this memorial resolution be sent to her family at this time of sorrow.
There being no further business, and on motion of Doug Brandon, seconded by the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
