MARCH 25, 2011

THE VERNON PARISH SCHOOL BOARD CONVENED IN A SPECIAL CALLED SESSION AT 10:00 A.M. MARCH 25, 2011 AT 201 BELVIEW ROAD, LEESVILLE, LOUISIANA.  PRESIDENT TRAVIS CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ON ROLL CALL THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS WERE PRESENT:

VERNON L. TRAVIS JR., PRESIDENT

BERYL FORD, VICE-PRESIDENT

MEL HARRIS

ROBERT PYNES JR.

DOUG BRANDON

JERRY JEANE

MIKE PERKINS

RANDY MARTIN

STEVE WOODS

JOHN BLANKENBAKER

GERALD COOLEY

ABSENT:               RANDI GLEASON - BUSINESS OBLIGATION

                                COLONEL FRANCIS BURNS - MILITARY OBLIGATION

There was also present Mr. Jackie D. Self, Secretary of the Board.

The meeting was opened in prayer by Mel Harris.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mel Harris.

On motion of Robert Pynes, seconded by Steve Woods, the Board voted to accept or reject the low bid for the renovation of South Polk Elementary School.

The following bids were received at South Polk Elementary School on March 10, 2011 at 2:00PM:

Skip Converse Inc.                                               $1,322,800.00

MBD Construction Co Inc.                                $1,380,000.00

Priola Construction Corp                                    $1,390,000.00

Pat Williams Construction Inc.                          $1,372,000.00

W.B. Construction & Sons Inc.                         $1,985,000.00 (bid was incomplete)

After discussion and on motion of Doug Brandon, seconded by John Blankenbaker, the Board voted to accept the low bid from Skip Converse Inc. in the amount of $1,322,800.00.  Construction is planned to begin as soon as school is dismissed for the year.

There being no further business, on motion of Beryl Ford, seconded by the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
